Even though your organization might only serve locally, it is important to continue to gather emails. The beauty of the internet is that you can impact not only those in your immediate neighborhood, but also reach others who might be interested in learning about you, your products/service, and your story.
Whether you are the best of the best or just getting started — attrition happens! So, having a plan and executing it to keep building your customer or donor file is important.
Here is a quick game plan on how to go about accomplishing this:
IDENTIFY A FREE GIVEAWAY
Figure out what knowledge you can give away for FREE. What is a great resource, advice, guide, instructions, or research that is congruent to your organization and that your audience would see as a value exchange to give you their contact info for?
TRANSFORM IT INTO A RESOURCE
Once you have this put together make sure it is presentable with some graphic design and looks well a great PDF/Downloadable resource.
CREATE A LANDING PAGE
Build a landing page on your website to send these new names to – ask for their first name, last name, and email address. Once you have that, you can either email them the resource or put it as a download on the thank you landing page.
IDENTIFY AN AUDIENCE AND SET UP AN AD ON SOCIAL PLATFORMS
Decide on a congruent audience and location to serve your paid social media ads. Create and build a digital ad to highlight this FREE resource and send them to the landing page to capture their information.
DEVELOP A FOLLOW UP PLAN
Have a plan to pull these new names out off the back end of your forms, follow up with them, and relationally cultivate them into customers or donors.
