#GivingTuesday is almost here, and if it caught you off guard, it’s not too late. There are still quick ways you can make the most of this huge fundraising day. Here are four quick tips to ensure your #GivingTuesday effort smashes your goals this quarter!
1. Set a goal
Setting a financial goal for #GivingTuesday is a great way to tell your donors what you need and encourage them to help you reach it. Make sure you come up with a goal that is realistic for you. If you are a smaller organization, maybe start at $1000-2500 and rally your donors around this number. If you smash this goal, it feels better not just for you and your staff but for your donors as well! Setting a goal will make #GivingTuesday very exciting for everyone involved.
2. Email your donors
Email is still the largest source of revenue across the web. If you are not emailing your donors regularly, you are missing out on a huge opportunity. Take #GivingTuesday as an opportunity to reach your donors and do the following:
- Write at least two emails (one for the morning and one for the evening)
- Share your goal in your email copy.
- Keep the design as simple as possible. Research has shown that text-only emails perform better for appeals than emails with design.
- Send to your full list, even to those who have given recently.
- Be sure to send a thank-you email the day after with how much you raised.
3. Post, post, post
Using email is perfect for direct action, but social media is your megaphone. And with #GivingTuesday being a trending hashtag across social platforms, this is the time to build awareness and get your audience excited about your campaign. Share stories of impact, do live videos talking about the campaign, or just share selfies! Keep it as personal as you can, and we guarantee you will get your audience excited about participating. Also, be sure to make it easy for people to give through social media by adding links to your bio’s and your posts!
4. Utilize Facebook Fundraiser
Facebook has also joined in on the fun of #GivingTuesday. This year, they are matching up to $7 million in donations. This is a huge opportunity, especially if you don’t have a donor offering a match for your #GivingTuesday campaign. So, consider setting up your campaign on Facebook and watch your donation goals get matched!
It’s also important to thank your donors on email and social media. This is a season of gratitude, especially in a year of such pain. Saying thank you can go a long way! So, go out there and have fun on #GivingTuesday!
