Founded in 2020, Buy Local Serve Local grew out of a realization that local businesses and nonprofits are integral to the growth of any community. We saw the “buy local” movement growing into a powerful movement, but wondered how our communities would transform if the “serve local” movement gained as much momentum.

Small businesses and nonprofits are important to local communities because they:

• • help create community identity.
  • are aligned with the needs of the community.
  • improve community health and camaraderie between business owners.
  • provide local and meaningful jobs.
  • foster innovation and competition.

There is an incredible sense of pride when a product or service is born out of a particular community and when the people behind that product or service are investing back into that community.

Our role is to use our gifts and abilities to tell stories of local businesses and nonprofit leaders that will in turn empower connection, loyalty, and generosity between the individuals, businesses, and nonprofits in the community.
